This cultivar is part of the "Rosedale
Series" of hostas from
Jerry Hadrava of Iowa. It is a hybrid of H. 'Allan P.
McConnell' × H. 'Yakushima Mizu' which grows into a
small size mound about
10 inches tall by 29 inches wide. The lance shaped leaves are
wavy and have thick substance.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term mizu as water, 'Mizu Gibōshi' or
H. longissima.
