Hosta 'Rime Ice'

There is an image of this cultivar on the Hosta Library. From the photo on the HL website, it appears to be a small size hosta with pointed, green leaves and abundant creamy yellow streaked variegation. Some of the foliage settles into a marginal variegation pattern. It is a sport of H. 'Minuteman' and produces medium lavender flowers from late July into August but rarely forms seed pods.. This non-registered cultivar was originated by Ran Lydell of Cooks Nursery and Eagle Bay Gardens in New York.

Rime ice is frost formed on cold objects by the rapid freezing of water vapor in clouds or fog.
