Hosta 'Red Hot Flash'
 

A tetraploid sport of H. 'PeeDee Gold Flash' it was registered by J. Machen, Jr. of Virginia in 2004. This plant forms a medium size mound about a foot tall and 21 inches wide. It bears deep purple flowers in late July.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Moderate growth rate, but reportedly not vigorous in all gardens...Differs from its parent in the thickness of the leaf, the wider margin, and the blue color."
