Peter Cross of Missouri completed the registration process for this seedling of H. ventricosa 'Aureomarginata' in 2001. It forms an upright mound of medium size. The narrow leaves are rippled and medium green in color. It bears lavender flowers on reddish scapes.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...shows no resemblance to H. ventricosa."
