Karel Hensen of the Netherlands registered this
plant from
Japan (possibly a hybrid of the species,
H. nakaiana) in 1983. The
medium size mound grows to a height of 14 inches
and a width of 3 feet with slightly wavy, triangular shaped
foliage. Its pale purple flowers are borne at the top of 3 foot
tall scapes.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...certainly cannot be classified
as a "dwarf", forming a mound 14 inches high. The purple flowers
are probably the best feature."
