This medium size (14
inches high by 32 inches wide) cultivar is a hybrid of
H. rectifolia 'Ogon Tachi' × H. 'Lily Pad' which
was registered by
Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2010. It has dark green, very
glossy foliage which is heavily puckered, heavily
corrugated and lightly wavy. Purple, tubular flowers
bloom from mid-July into August. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term ogon or oogon
as gold or yellow and the term tachi as upright, 'Tachi Gibōshi' or
H. rectifolia.
