this small size (9.5 inches high by 24 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Flo
Jo' ×
H. 'Jack Berry'. It has deep blue-green foliage
with "subtle purple tones." The leaves are broadly
ovate, slightly wavy, slightly rippled and has a glaucous bloom on top and bottom. Medium lavender
flowers bloom in December (June) on scapes 20-23 inches tall
but it does not set seeds.
The registration materials state: "...Heavily
textured blue leaves with dense white undersides, have
purple veining early while the central vein and petioles
remain purple all season...Petioles are the same purple
as the leaf central vein and stay purple even when
leaves turn green...strong bluish purple petals with
white flashes at the base...Becomes more green in high
summer temps, finally turning a dark, shiny
green...seeds obtained from
R. Goodenough..."
