Registered by Madelon Gilligan
of New Zealand in
2018,
this upright growing cultivar is a medium size (11
inches high by 31 inches wide) seedling of H. 'Clovely'.
The heavily rippled foliage is dark green, broadly
ovate, deeply wavy and very shiny on top. Pale purple
flowers bloom December into January (June into July) on scapes 30 to 34
inches tall. It sets seeds but their viability was not
known at the time of registration.
The registration materials state: "...Handsome,
shiny green, elegant plant with wavy leaves that have a
distinct twisted curl at the tip. It differs from H. 'Clovelly'
in that it has narrower, darker green leaves with no
white underside & smooth (not pebbled) top
surface...Strong, upright petioles hold leaves outright
to better display the curled tips...medium purple buds
open to reveal pale purple petals with white center
streak and translucent edges...Shiny, dark green color
holds the entire season."
