This non-registered sport of H. 'Chōkō Nishiki' is from
Marco
Fransen of the
Netherlands. Its leaves are
medium green with a narrow, yellow marginal variegation. The
large size plant bears very pale lavender flowers in July. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...emerges late in the spring." Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
