This cultivar was listed on the
MyHostas Database website.
Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It is a small size mutation of the
wild form of
H. sieboldii (aka H.
albomarginata) with yellow foliage that changes to
chartreuse in color later in the season.
MyHostas speculates that this is the same as H. 'Ogon
Koba'
or H. 'Wogon'.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term koba as small leaf,
'Koba Gibōshi' or
H. sieboldii and the term ogon or oogon as gold or yellow.
