This cultivar was listed on the MyHostas Database website. Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is a self-pollinated seedling of H. cathayana 'Nakafu'. It is a golden-yellow hosta which changes to a greenish color later in the season.

MyHostas indicates that this could be the same as H. cathayana 'Ogon' or H. 'Chinese Gold'.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nakafu as medio-variegated and the term ogon or oogon as gold or yellow.
