Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage but has
H. venusta in its background.
It is a small size hosta about 9 inches high by 24
inches wide with medium green foliage. The leaves are
ovate, slightly wavy and have a smooth texture. Its
petioles have slightly red color on the lower portions. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term otome as maiden, 'Otome Gibōshi' or
H. venusta, the term fukurin as margined or edged. and the term moegi as light (yellowish) green or lime green. |
