Originated in 2005 by
Arthur Wrede of Maryland, this
non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Miss
Angie' ×
H. 'Katsuragawa
Beni'. It is a small size hosta
with wedge-shape green leaves and red petioles. The red
extends up into the lower part of the leaf blade. Pale
purple flowers bloom from August into September. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term
beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
