Hosta 'Mirage'

The image above was taken at Wade and Gatton Nursery and Wade Botanical Gardens represents the Ward [2] cultivar.

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. Neither is registered with The American Hosta Society. The first one to be registered would become the "official" hosta of that name and the other would have to be renamed.

This non-registered cultivar is a hybrid with a background including H. 'Ginko Craig', H. plantaginea and H. yingeri. It was originated by Ron Livingston of Michigan. The leaves are rippled and slightly corrugated. It bears fragrant, white, spider-shaped flowers.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...one of two plants with this name..."

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Mirage' (Livingston)

Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio originated this non-registered seedling of H. 'Pin Stripe Sister'. It has light green (apple) foliage that has creamy white and chartreuse streaked variegation in the leaf center. The leaves are very broadly ovate, corrugated and are a bit unruly.
