Hosta 'Mike Shadrack'

Bob Kuk of Kuk's Forest in Ohio registered this hybrid of H. 'Great Expectations' × H. 'Rock and Roll' in 2001. It forms a large size, upright mound about 18 inches high and 36 inches wide. The leaf blade is very broadly ovate, cupped, moderately corrugated with thick substance. Its near white flowers open in clusters from late June into July followed by viable seeds.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Though not well-known, this creamy edged cultivar should achieve a high level of popularity...Mike Shadrack (the person) hails from England, but is a prominent member of The American Hosta Society. Besides being an avid hosta collector, speaker, photographer, and auctioneer, he co-authored a popular hosta book with Diana Grenfell, The Color Encyclopedia of HOSTAS..."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "A great recent introduction...Very showy variegated leaf and flower bracts."
