This sport of H. 'Lakeside
Black Satin' was registered by
Bob Solberg of Green Hill Farm in North Carolina in 2005.
The foliage is dark green with a yellow to white
marginal variegation. It grows to a large size hosta
about 22 inches in height
and 48 inches in width with leaves that are deeply lobed
at the base, slightly rippled and of better than average
substance. The bell-shaped, medium purple flowers bloom
in late July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I can attest to the beauty of this 'Lakeside Black
Satin' sport. The contrast between the dark green leaf
center and the irregular, yellow to creamy margin is
striking."
