This cultivar is a hybrid of H. 'Sum and Substance' × H. 'Elegans'
which
was registered by
Mark Zilis of Illinois in 1999. It forms a giant size mound, 28
inches in height by 60 inches in width. The foliage is shiny,
broadly ovate with a deeply lobed base and has thick substance.
Its pale lavender flowers bloom from late July into August
followed by viable seeds.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "The huge leaves of the H. 'Sum and Substance'
parent and the thickness and surface texture of the H. '
Elegans'
parent combine to make this an impressive hosta."
