This sport of the species
H.
rectifolia is a vase-shaped, medium size hosta about 16 inches high by 14 inches wide. It has
dark green foliage that has petioles that are red
spotted. The flowers are purple with stripes and bloom
in August followed by viable seeds.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term maruba
as round leaf or round-leafed and the term tachi as upright, 'Tachi Gibōshi' or
H. rectifolia.
One
source says that this is the same as
H. rectifolia var. australis. |
