Registered by
Bevie Schmidt of Michigan in 2009, this
upright growing cultivar is a hybrid of H. 'Choko Nishiki'.
It is a large size hosta about 22 inches high by 48
inches wide with greenish yellow foliage. The leaves are
broadly ovate, slightly twisted, slightly wavy, slightly
corrugated and slightly shiny on top. According to the registration materials: "...soft, smooth, puckery yellow to greenish
yellow leaves seems to glow in the garden..." Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
