Registered by Jim Husemann of Iowa in 2009, this
large size (19 inches high by 40 inches wide) cultivar is a hybrid of H.
'Chōkō
Nishiki' (formerly H. 'On Stage').
The leaves are greenish yellow with a pale yellow
marginal variegation. Its leaves are moderately wavy,
broadly ovate and slightly shiny on top. Tubular flowers
bloom from mid-July into August on scapes 18 to 24
inches tall. According to the registration materials: "...very attractive color combination, good
growth rate...margin turns white by summer..." Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
