This plant was registered in 1991 by
Mary Chastain of
Lakeside Acres Nursery in Tennessee.
It is a cross of the species,
H. venusta x H. 'Blue Cadet' which grows to about 11 inches in height and a spread of 2 feet.
The leaves are slightly cupped and smooth textured. Its bright
purple flowers in dense clusters bloom in July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Its main ornamental feature,
though, may be its spectacular show of bright purple flowers.
They are produced in dense clusters in July on scapes just above
the foliage."
