This hybrid of an unnamed seedling x H. 'Black Beauty' was registered in 1993 by Mary Chastain of Lakeside Acres Nursery in Tennessee. It forms a medium size mound with leaves that are very broadly ovate and moderately corrugated. Pale lavender flowers are borne in late July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Notable about 'Lakeside Cup Up' are its rich green color, cupping, and profusion of flowers."
