A hybrid of
H. 'Sieboldiana'
x H. 'Tokudama',
this cultivar was registered in 1999 by
Barry Sligh of Taunton Gardens in New Zealand as part of
his
Kiwi Series of hostas. The medium size mound has leaves
that emerge yellow gold in color and then turn green as the
season progresses. It bears pale purple flowers in late June. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The parentage listed in
The
American Hosta Society registration does not
correlate with plants I've seen...The number of vein pairs,
flowering habits, and foliage character do not reflect what
would be expected..."
