This large size plant grows to around 20 inches in
height with a spread of 47 inches with medium green
foliage. Its leaves are slightly wavy, ovate and have
"cherry" red petioles.
'Kinba' bears clusters of purple, bell-shape
flowers from mid-August into September on arching scapes 21
inches tall followed by viable seeds "depending on the
weather".
The
registration materials state: "...emerges golden
yellow and upright changing to medium green as season progresses." Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kinba or kimba as yellow leaf.
