This cultivar comes from
Japan. Some sources call it
H. longissima var.
longifolia
'Kinakafu Otome' which was recently changed to H. 'Ki
Nakafu Otome' It starts the spring as a yellow leaf with a
green margin but usually turns all green by late July.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kinakafu or ki nakifu as yellow-center(ed)
and the term otome as maiden, 'Otome Gibōshi' or
