This non-registered
cultivar of unidentified parentage was originated in Japan. From the digital image we viewed, it appears to be a
small size plant with yellow leaves.
According to a 2010 article by
W. George Schmid, this is
the yellow form of the species
H. rupifraga which
was found in the wild Mount Nishi (Hachijo-Fuji) in
Japan. Its leaves are a bit more wavy than those of the
species.
A sport of H. rupifraga would have purple-red
petioles, twisted leaves with a sharp point and shiny
top surface. It would bear lavender flowers with purple
stripes and purple-yellow anthers in September followed
by viable seeds.
