Originated by Frances Williams of Massachusetts, this cultivar is listed as a "possible" hybrid of H. 'Fortunei' × H. 'Decorata'. It was registered by Connie Williams on behalf of her mother in 1986. 'Kathleen' grows into a medium size hosta about 17 inches tall by 30 inches wide with green leaves that are slightly corrugated and have a thin bloom on the bottom. Lavender flowers bloom in August.
