A medium size (14 inches
high by 42 inches wide) hosta, this cultivar is a
seedling of H. 'Semperaurea' which was registered in 2003 by
Peter and Jean
Ruh of Ohio on behalf of the originator,
Heinz Klose of
Staudengärtnerei Klose in Germany. The very bright golden yellow foliage
is broadly oblong to ovate, moderately wavy with a thin
bloom on the bottom. Very pale lavender flowers bloom
from mid-June into July.
According to a Google search, "Kasseler is the name
given to any pork cut that has been smoked, then ripened
in a salt brine solution."
