This non-registered cultivar from
Japan is a sport of
H. kiyosumiensis. It forms a medium
size plant about 10 inches tall by 30 inches wide with streaked green foliage
that comes to a sharp point at the tip. It bears white flowers with purple
anthers from June into July. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful. |
