Hosta 'John Q. Adams'

A hosta of unidentified parentage and origin, this cultivar was registered by Peter and Jean Ruh of Ohio in 2003. It is a giant size plant about 32 inches high by 60 inches wide with bright gold colored foliage. The semi-upright hosta has leaves that are broadly ovate, slightly wavy, slightly corrugated and of good substance. Very pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...was known as 'Roundabout' in the 1980s...After Bob Savory registered another plant as 'Roundabout' in 1988, its future was uncertain. Peter Ruh of Ohio thought so much of the plant, however, that he renamed and registered it. A few collectors have speculated that this is a seedling of 'Sum and Substance' developed by Paul Aden of New York in the late 1970s."

John Q. Adams was the 6th president of the U.S. from 1825-1829.
