This cultivar is part of the "Presidential Series" of hostas originated by Hajime Sugita of Japan and registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 2005. The cultivar is a hybrid of H. kiyosumiensis x H. pycnophylla which grows into a medium size hosta about 14 inches in height with bright green foliage that is slightly unruly with average substance. Leaves have reddish color in part of their petiole. Reddish purple flowers bloom late in the season.
