This
upright cultivar is part of the "Presidential Series" of hostas
originated by
Hajime Sugita of Japan and registered by
Peter Ruh of Ohio in
2003. It is a hybrid
of
H.
pycnophylla x
H. kiyosumiensis which grows
into a medium size hosta about 17 inches in height with a spread of
28 inches. The dark
green foliage is rippled, has purplish red petioles and has
smooth texture.
Deep lavender (pendulant) flowers with purple stripes bloom in September and
October. The scapes are greenish purple to purple and stand 17
to 20 inches tall. It sets viable seeds in purple pods
