This seedling selection was registered in 1993 by Hideko Gowen of Minnesota, Frank Riehl of Iowa and Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan. It grows into a medium size hosta about 16 inches in height and 38 inches in width. The leaf blade is elliptic, shiny on the underside with red petioles. It bears deep purple flowers from late July into August.
