This non-registered
cultivar was originated by
Shinya Fukatsu of Japan.
According to an article by the originator in
The British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society Journal
(Autumn 2019) this is a medium size hosta with narrow eaves
that emerge as an ivory color and change to misty,
greenish at the tips of the leaf blades later with
streaked variegation. It is a
hybrid of H. sieboldii × H. 'Tokudama'.
A sister cultivar, H. 'Hi-renjyaku' from
this cross has wider leaves and less streaking.
Be
aware that there is also a cultivar named H.
'Yuki-no-jou' from Yoshimichi Hirose.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term hosoba as narrow leaf. |
