Originated in 2013 by Ronny Van Keer of Belgium, this non-registered cultivar is a
seedling of H. 'Harry van de Laar' ×
H. 'Katsuragawa Beni'. This is a medium size
hosta with bright, light green foliage with very dark
reddish purple petioles. The red color moves up into the
bottom part of the leaf blade. It produces lavender
colored flowers. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term
beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
