Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is
sport of H. kikutii. It is a miniature size hosta
with green foliage that has a whitish back to the leaf
blade. This cultivar bears clusters of near white
flowers with purple anthers from late August into
September. They produce viable seeds. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term hime
as small, mini, dwarf or princess and the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside. |
