this large size (20 inches high by 33 inches wide) cultivar is
a
sport of H. 'American Hero'. It has medium green
foliage that has a dark green marginal variegation and
those colors extend down the petioles. The broadly ovate
leaves are slightly cupped, slightly twisted and
moderately corrugated with a dull top. Pale purple
flowers with white stripes bloom from mid-July into
August on scapes about 30 inches tall followed by viable
seeds.
The registration materials state: "...Heart-shaped
leaves emerge with distinct variegation that transitions
to a barely discernible variegation later in the
season...Center darkens to almost the same color as the
dark green margins...Likely the same as H.
'Color Revolt'." |
