This
tissue culture sport of H. plantaginea was
registered by
Walters Gardens,
Inc. of Michigan in 1988. It was under U.S. Plant Patent from 1990 to
Clarence (C.H.) Falstad, III but that has since expired. It forms a
large
size (22 inches high by 34 inches wide) plant with dark green foliage that is yellow-green along the
margin of the leaves. Pure white flowers bloom from mid-August
into September on scapes about 30 inches tall.
The registration materials state that this hosta was
also known as H. plantaginea 'Gold Margined
Variety' at some point in time. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "There are few, if any, plants of 'Heaven Scent' clinging
to life these days."
