A sport of H. 'Sun Glow', this
cultivar was registered by
Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio in 1996. It is
a medium to large size plant growing to around 17 inches in height
and a width of 40 inches. The leaves are moderately corrugated
with thick substance. Near white flowers bloom in late June. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...named in honor of the owner of
Hatfield Gardens, Stoutsville, OH. During the 1980s and into the
1990s, Handy's nursery dominated the hosta collector's market by
being the first to offer introductions from such prominent
hybridizers as
Wm and Eleanor Lachman, Dr. Kevin Vaughn, Dick Ward, Roy Herold, and others."
