John Orlando of New York registered this seedling of H. 'Choko
Nishiki' in
2003. It forms a large size mound with greenish yellow foliage. From mid-July into August, it bears pale lavender flowers.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
