Frank
Riehl of Iowa originated
cultivar is a sport of H. 'Pearl
Lake' which was registered on his behalf by
Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. The dark green foliage has chartreuse and green streaked
variegation.
This is a medium size (17 inches high by 31 inches wide) mound of heart shaped foliage that is slightly wavy,
moderately
corrugated and dull on top. It forms tubular, pale lavender flowers in July with many
blooms per scape.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "...Not
as vigorous as its parent. Moderate growth rate...One of
a very few streaky breeders of
H. nakaiana
ancestry. Has a fine display of flowers."
Note: This source erroneously
states that H. 'Veronica Lake' was the mother plant.
