hybrid of H. 'Urajiro
Hachijo' × H. 'Crested
Surf' was registered by
Don Dean of Minnesota
in 1999. It forms a medium size plant that has
bright gold leaves in the spring that changes to
chartreuse color later in the season. The plant
grows to about 17 inches in height with a spread of
49 inches.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside.
