this fast growing cultivar is a seedling of an unnamed
seedling of H. hypoleuca
×
H. 'Theo's Blue'. It is a large size hosta about
19.5 inches tall by 25 inches wide with dark blue-green
foliage. The ovate leaves are moderately rippled,
slightly folded, slightly wavy and have a glaucous bloom
on top. Its
petioles are dark bluish-purple with a glaucous bloom. Near white flowers bloom from late July
into August on scapes about 32 inches tall. The bluish
purple scapes have creamy yellow bracts surrounding each
flower. It does not set seeds. The
registration materials state: "...Tall blue with
white backed leathery leaves. Thick bloom so the colour
holds well, red legs and slug/snail resistant. Near
white flowers are enhanced by the dark scapes and creamy
yellow bracts...turns dark blue-green when exposed to
bright light and later in the season." |
