this upright growing cultivar is a seedling of
H.
longipes hypoglauca × unnamed seedling
of H. Tardiana Group. It is a miniature size hosta about 4.5 inches high by 16.5 inches wide with
blue-green foliage that has a mostly yellow medial
(center) variegation.
The ovate leaves are slightly
rippled, slightly wavy and have a glaucous bloom on top.
The petioles are bright red early in the season but
change to reddish-purple later. Medium lavender,
bell-shaped flowers with interior white stripes bloom
from August into September on scapes 8 to 10 inches
tall. It does not set seeds. The
registration materials state: "...Small, red-legged
clump of two-toned leaves...emerges blue-green then
develops yellow centers then turns blue-green again by
October."
