This large size (21 inches high)
cultivar of unidentified parentage has slightly cupped, wavy foliage. It bears very light
lavender flowers in July. It was registered in 1987 jointly by
The
American Hosta Society and
Dr. Nils Hylander of Sweden.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Though being around for over fifty years, 'Fortunei
Rugosa' is unknown to most hosta collectors. It differs from
other Fortunei types by
its unruliness and heavy corrugation and would be a useful
breeding plant."
