This cultivar resulted from a
cross of an H. 'Sun
Power' seedling x H. 'Donahue
Piecrust' that
was registered by
Don Dean of Minnesota in 1999. The medium to large size mound
has a semi-upright form and leaves that are heavily rippled and
slightly corrugated. From June into July, it produces lavender
flowers.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Don Dean (2007) has observed that
bracts subtending the lavender flowers of 'Fluted Fountain' have
a reddish rose tint.'
