2019,
this fast growing, giant size (34 inches high by 80 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Hyuga
Urajiro' ×
H. 'Empress Wu'. The leaves are slightly
blue-green, dull on top, ovate and relatively flat
overall. Its petioles stand upright on younger plants
but later spread to a lower mound shape. Near white
flowers with pale lavender stripes bloom from July into
August on scapes 28 to 34 inches tall followed by viable
seeds. The
registration materials state: "...Uniform clump
form, deeply impressed veins on a smooth leaf, excellent
scape proportions all combined with exceptionally large
leaves...loses glaucous bloom and becomes a slightly
shiny, dark green." |
