Dean and Gunther Stark of Iowa originated this non-registered sport of H. 'Excitation'. This plant forms a dense, medium-size mound of foliage. It bears pale lavender flowers starting in mid-July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...known as both 'Ex altation' and 'Ex ultation'...other sources describe this as a reversed sport of 'Citation', but that cannot be...Evidently, 'Exultation' originated from a series of mutations...I cannot distinguish this plant from 'Ian Winslow', another sport of 'Excitation'..."
