This 1994 registrant by
Bob Kuk of Kuk's Forest in Ohio is a
sport of a seedling of H. 'Tardiflora'. It forms a
medium size (16 inches high by 32 inches wide) plant with puckered foliage that is shiny on the
underside. The creamy white center of the leaf turns green as the
summer progresses. Medium purple flowers bloom from late July into mid-August
followed by viable seeds.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Not a difficult hosa to cultivate in the right
situation. Careful placement between too much sun and too much
shade is necessary for the interesting color changes...Grow as a
foreground specimen or on a raised bed for best effect...At its
best in midsummer while the contrasting colors of the center and
margin are at their height."
