This seedling of H. 'Chōkō Nishiki' is a non-registered cultivar from
Jim Husemann of Iowa. It forms a medium size plant about 15 inches high with a
spread of 30 inches. The bright gold foliage is wavy and
slightly corrugated.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
